Furnace is an alternative heat source to hydrogen-oxygen burner. The furnace provides larger hot zone, which shortens the time needed for collapsing the tube.
Fibers with special coatings are: Silicone – resistance to high temperature, Polyimide – resistance to high temperature and radiation, PEEK: – The process of cabling, – Resistance to extremely low temperatures (-195 C – liquid nitrogen), PTFE, Metals: – Copper, aluminum, gold, – Hermetic (prevention of aging fibers), – Resistance to very high temperatures (up to 700 C).
Following procedures lead to various optical solutions, made in cooperation with laboratory for electro-optics and sensory systems LEOSS in University of Maribor, Slovenia:
– Introduction of dopants into silica glass
