BRC-12 Optacore’s Bubbler refill cabinet for MCVD preform making equipment refilling is a specially constructed set of cabinets (individual cabinets for each reagent), each with space for one delivery container and one intermediate refill container. Cabinets are constructed for refilling bubblers with SiCl4 and GeCl4.

MSC-09 scrubber is a professional system for disposal of gas pollutants by washing effluent gases from MCVD preform fabrication process and quartz tube washer/etcher. By its size and purification capacity it can be adapted to the number of installed machines at customer’s site. Largest MSC scrubber units can wash up to 3000 Nm3/h of effluent gases, and the smallest unit (MSC-09/S is intended for laboratories with a single deposition system.

SGC-13 Gas Cylinder Cabinets is supplied to be used together with MCVD equipment, providing all essential functions and compliance with safety principles of operation. Safe connection and use of special gases is extremely important in optical fiber preform fabrication process, both for gas purity, as well as safety of equipment and personnel. Some gases used in MCVD process are very aggressive or even toxic, therefore proper handling during cylinder connection and exchange has to be provided.

CGP-14 Gas purifier removes impurities from reaction gas to a level acceptable in fabrication of optical fiber preforms by MCVD or similar vapor phase deposition process. Use of high purity gases in optical fiber preform fabrication is essential for low related to hydroxyl contamination (water peak). In fiber drawing or MCVD furnace operation, oxygen gas has to be eliminated from inert gas flow. Optacore has developed a set of devices for purification of gases in optical fiber and preform fabrication process.

POL-02 Polariscope is an inevitable tool in optical fiber production, enabling analysis of core preforms prior to sleeving, finished sleeved preforms or quartz tubes / rods. It is used to detect bubbles, inclusions, cracks, strain regions and other defects in glass structure. Light source and view lens assembly can slide freely along the preform length and permit observation of deposition pattern or inclusions. Defect position is read from the sliding rule at pointer tip.

QTS-95 quartz tube and preform storage cabinet is an accessory used in preform fabrication facilities, to store quartz tubes, rods and preforms safely and in clean environment. Quartz rods and tubes are stored in horizontal position and are traversed by flow of clean air, preventing contamination by particles and providing excellent means for organization of stock. While primarily intended for clean, washed or etched glass, cabinet can serve well also for organizing inlet and exhaust tubes and technical quartz glass pieces, used in MCVD, FCVD, PCVD, OVD or VAD production environment.

MPS is a system for measurement of attenuation on a preform slice, as a function of radial position, at a chosen wavelength. This method is most often used in determination of active dopant content in rare earth-doped preforms.

QSG-93 Quartz surface grinder is used in reshaping of optical fiber preforms for different application, like laser fiber fabrication, special polarization maintaining fibers, fan-out fiber assemblies, preforms with highly elliptical internal layers, etc. Due to high precision it can be used to polish machined surfaces to very high quality by grinding.

QCG-94 quartz centerless surface grinder is used in fabrication of round quartz or other glass rods and pieces, like boron stress rods in production of gyroscope PM Panda fibers. Other application includes preform reshaping and removal of outer glass layers in special optical fiber preform fabrication.

QCS-90 quartz cutting saw is an essential tool in fabrication of optical fiber and preform; it is used in preparation of substrate quartz tubes and in handling preforms prior or after fiber drawing. Proper cutting of substrate and other tubing is important for the quality of end product. Good, perpendicular cuts, without splinters and cut surface damage lead to exact and reliable welding and stubbing, important for fabrication of straight preforms.
